A Podcast Supporting Shaker Home-Based Businesses

What to Expect

Those of us with home-based businesses know how tough it can be to get the word out about what we do. We are a talented group of people, many of us "solopreneurs", who offer tremendous value. Many of us have years, even decades of experience to offer potential clients.

But unless we are "networking like crazy" or are one of those lucky ones who has mastered the art of getting a large and engaged social media following, well, it sometimes feel like we're in a "PR basement." (Not that being in the basement is all that bad; some of us may work in our basements!)

So, I am inviting members of the Shaker Home-Based Business Work Group to be guests on my ReMarkable! podcast.

Each episode will have up to three guests and since each episode is an hour long, you'll have the opportunity to talk for 15-20 minutes. I record my shows at the Shaker Public Library (main location) in a Study Room.

If you've never been on a podcast before, let me prepare you . . . it's really fun!

First, this is an audio-only podcast; no video. I will photograph you during the recording to include in the show artwork but we won't be recording any video.

Second, this show is conversational! I will read your website to get an understanding of your business and so that I can be somewhat informed before our conversation. I will ask you questions as a way of drawing out key parts of your business offering but relax and take your time responding.

When I talk with you, a guest, here's what I'll do:

  • I'll ask you to introduce yourself and give me and the listeners a one to two minute "elevator pitch."
  • Then I'll ask how you got into your career, what interested you, and a bit about your career journey. Listeners LOVE stories so come prepared to tell a few!
  • Next, we'll discuss what you do now. Expand on your elevator pitch. Tell me and the listeners what you do (or sell), why people hire you or buy your product, and as before, tell stories!
  • Finally, we'll wrap up the conversation with a discussion involving all of the guests. We'll talk about your experiences living and working in Shaker.

Finally, if when responding to a question or making a statement, you want to start over or correct something, please do so. I am happy to make edits.

After we've recorded the episode, I'll edit the show, produce some show notes to accompany the episode, and then publish it. I'll send you a link to the show and it will be published in all the usual places: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube podcasts, etc.

Saidah and Sahithya were both guests on my podcast. This episode is a good example of my interview style and of two local residents and solopreneuers describing their professional journeys.
